Doing What I Love Because Of My Grandparents

I am incredibly grateful to share my Microsoft experience with my grandparents. This past month they visited my office and shared with me:

“We found immigrating to the U.S. worth it because you get to do what you love.”

I can’t help but remember as a young child scribbling down on printer paper a step-by-step walkthrough guide for my grandpa on how to use his Windows desktop. From uploading photos to his photo library to making short recap videos in Windows Movie Maker and saving files from his email. We could only dream I would be where I am today.

I get to do what I love because of the sacrifices, hardships, and courage they have shown to truly live out our “American Dream”.

I can’t thank them enough.

Through this short film, I captured 100 photos to celebrate my grandparent’s journey immigrating from South Korea and navigating life in the U.S. with three children and now six grandchildren. I hope this article can serve as a reminder for myself and others to think back to their source of inspiration and why we’re able to do what we love.

I want to build products that will enable my friends, neighbors, family, and most importantly grandparents to do more.

Even when life gets chaotic and overwhelming, this is a reminder that gratitude can be found in everything we do.

To my grandparents, 사랑해요.
